Description

The PYAA Series is a high performance single element permanently poled Lithium Tantalate pyroelectric IR detector. These single element devices offer superior performance when operated from 1 Hz to 100Hz. They are supplied with a choice of packages with a choice of several optical windows or custom optical filters. The wide spectral sensitivity from the U.V. to 1,000 microns is achieved with a proprietary absorbing coating. They can be easily interfaced to an external FET (voltage mode) or to a low noise operational amplifier (current mode).

State of the art manufacturing techniques are used in the manufacture of the PYAA series resulting in reduced sensitivity to microphonics. The sensing elements are especially thinned to achieve the highest performance.

Broadband spectral sensitivity is limited in practice by the window selection. These can be supplied in a variety of hermetic packages including TO5, TO39 and TO46.

PYBB PYROELECTRIC DETECTORS

Lithium Tantalate - High Performance with Integrated Voltage Mode Amplifier

Description

The PYBB Series Lithium Tantalate Pyroelectric Detectors are new devices from our family of high performance IR detectors. The specially processed sensing element and the integrated low noise JFET voltage mode preamplifier all in a TO5 transistor package provide high voltage responsivity and low noise thus a high D*. The preamplifier can operate at a very low voltage and currents thus allowing battery powered operation.

The Lithium Tantalate crystal (LTO) with it’s very high Currie temperature (~600 C.) and low sensitivity to ambient temperature (<0.2%/deg C.) allow operation over a wide temperature range without the need for temperature control. LTO is non-hygroscopic and can thus be supplied and operated in a “windowless” configuration.

The very wide spectral sensitivity (U.V. to 1,000μ) and high speed is achieved with a proprietary low thermal mass absorbing coating. Spectral sensitivity is limited in practice by the window selection or optical filters.

These devices can be supplied in many different configurations including element geometry and size and amplifier response characteristics. Other packages and configurations are available.
